Planning
Yes. Bette chose to focus on the natural materials glass and steel more than 60 years ago. All of our products are 100% recyclable and exclusively “Made in Germany” at our own site in Delbrück, All Bette bathroom products are of lasting value, gentle on the skin, and manufactured completely without chemicals or solvents. We draw two thirds of the energy used in the manufacturing process from our own sources.
Bette bathroom products are extremely robust, and remain permanently attractive. Thanks to their environmentally friendly production and durability, they have a first-rate life eco balance and are particularly well-suited to sustainable building projects. Each Bette product has an Environmental Product Declaration verified in accordance with ISO 14025 and complies with the LEED-certified U.S. Green Building Council.
All our products are Made in Germany, exclusively and ecologically at our own site in Delbrück, where we are responsible for around 390 jobs.
Yes. In addition to a broad spectrum of around 500 standard glossy or matt sanitaryware colours, we have also developed our own colour world: 22 exclusive matt colours that match the current trends for tiles, natural stone and wood floors.
Yes. A few centimetres can make the world of difference in bathroom design, especially when space is tight or an existing property is being renovated. We make planning easier with made-to-measure baths, shower surfaces and trays. The titanium steel cast is precisely cut to size before being enamelled, creating the optimal solution for the available space, which not only looks fantastic but is also extremely hygienic. No need for awkward patchwork jobs with tiles.
Yes. It’s surprising how one small corner can upset a whole bathroom design. This is why Bette offers a range of baths and shower trays with one corner cut off, in line with the customer's specifications. The perfect solution to work around challenging spaces and downpipes!
Bette has developed various solutions to ensure that bathing and showering are quiet affairs. For instance, in order to minimise the sound being transferred to the building structure, the legs of Bette's baths and the installation frame of Bette's shower trays are soundproofed, as are the bath anchors that are used to secure the bath to the wall. Underpinning tapes and soundproofing tapes on the wall-side edges of the baths and the installation frame also reduce sound transmission. Furthermore, so-called noise suppression mats made of bitumen, which also have a soundproofing effect, can be attached out of sight to the body of the Bette bath or shower tray.
If the soundproofing measures are carried out professionally and completely, Bette baths are soundproofed to DIN 4109/A1 as standard. If Bette's Universal installation system is used for the shower trays, then the noise level when using the shower is merely 20 dB, which complies with the requirements of DIN 4109/A1 and the higher requirements as per VDI 4100 SST III – which has also been confirmed in checks by DEKRA.
Showering can be even quieter with Bette's ultra-flat shower trays and shower surfaces if the company's minimum tray support is used, which is simply glued onto the screed or wooden floor. The sound level in this instance is only 17 dB, which far exceeds even the strict requirements of sound insulation level 3 of VDI 4100. And provides more quiet and intimacy when showering in badly soundproofed buildings in particular.
Upturned edges to shower surfaces or baths, known as BetteUpstand, are particularly safe structurally. Instead of porous silicone, the "hollow" against the wall is formed by glazed titanium steel. There are no gaps where water can penetrate, and no capillary effect from splashes. Furthermore the glazed surface is not a target area – not for mould, mildew, dirt or bacteria. Baths or shower trays with this upstand offer a permanent added value: no maintenance, no repairs or updates, no damage resulting from mould or moisture in the wall.
One very good solution is high-quality special sealing tape such as the BetteSealing system, which additionally seals the problem area of the silicone joint both at floor level and against the wall. If the BetteSealing system is combined with a bonded seal, the installation instructions are observed and the enclosed materials are used, it will meet the requirements of DIN 18195 Pt. 1, which calls for 100% water tightness.
A free-standing bath can be stylish and elegant. However, it needs to have plenty of space around it so you have enough space to move around, and also so it can be seen at its very best. A free-standing bath can also look extremely attractive against a glass or window front or pretty wall. Please ensure during the planning stage that no hard-to-reach hollow spaces are created that cannot be used sensibly and are difficult to clean.
Yes. Bette carries a wide range of baths and shower trays as standard that are ready to be used for almost any layout and application in the bathroom, for instance for installations in corners or recesses, or in the area of doors. As well as rectangular shapes, we also offer oval, round and amorphous formats, quadrants or hexagons. Use
The BetteGlaze is resistant to any chemicals and bath additives that are also tolerated by human skin. Please also observe the information provided on the packaging leaflet, and thoroughly remove all residues after use.
Not normally. The standard commercially available products known to us will not damage the extremely hard external glaze of Bette titanium steel. However, we do recommend that any anti-slip inserts be removed after use rather than leaving them permanently in the bath or shower tray. Moisture may remain under the mats or stickers, which could cause stubborn marks due to limescale or dirt as they are not rinsed away by the water.
One alternative to anti-slip mats are Bette's anti-slip surfaces, which are applied at the works to provide additional safety and an anti-slip effect to various standards.
BetteGlaze® is particularly robust. It is resistant to cosmetics, bath additives and most chemicals. Even nail polish will not leave any marks or stains, but can simply be wiped away. Please observe the information given on the packaging leaflet and in the instructions for use provided by the manufacturer, and thoroughly remove all residues after use.
Special bath additives are available for whirl baths that do not leave any residues in pipes or jets, and are therefore completely safe for use in whirl systems. Please observe the instructions for use and the relevant information provided by the manufacturer. We do not recommend the use of foaming bath additives (bubble baths).
No. Even on cold winter days, glazed titanium steel is ideal for a pleasant soak because the material is well tempered and quickly assumes the warmth of the bath water – even in the neck area and around the edge of the bath, where it is normally rather chilly. The amount of heat that a bath loses does not depend on the material, but 80% on the room temperature, water circulation and evaporation on the surface of the water. The heat that the steel absorbs is largely returned to the water as it cools down.
Cleaning
The BetteGlaze® that covers our baths, shower trays and washbasins in titanium steel in glossy or matt shades is extremely hygienic and can handle a lot. Dirt and bacteria are hardly able to adhere to the glass-hard, non-porous surface, and are usually easy to remove using a soft, non-scratch or non-abrasive cloth and a little clean, warm water. For daily cleaning, we recommend the BetteCareCloth (order no. Z0016912) and the enamel spray cleaner (order no. B57-0245). You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
Aggressive cleaning agents such as drain cleaner or abrasive products may damage the BetteGlaze® surface. Their use is therefore not recommended. If you use the measures described above regularly, you will be able to maintain a clean freshness and the optimum hygiene even without resorting to aggressive cleaning products.
It is best to soften stubborn dirt with a mild bathroom or all-purpose cleaner for 15 to 30 minutes, and then repeat the cleaning process. Alternatively, use the Bette enamel cleaner (order no. Z0015908) or the enamel care stick (order no. Z0007521). You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
In every instance, please follow the instructions for use on enamelled surfaces that are printed on the various products.
Limescale deposits are easy to prevent by ensuring that all fittings are closed and well sealed, and that any residual water is removed after use. Remove any adhering residues with a soft, non-scratch cloth and a warm solution of vinegar and water (ratio 1:1; not vinegar essence) that you simply rinse away with clean water when you have finished.
Bette offers a special enamel cleaner (order no. Z0015908) for the care and regular cleaning of the glazed surface of titanium steel. The solvent-free cleaning agent removes unattractive, stubborn traces of limescale and stains on bathroom products. Simply pour the cleaner onto the moistened surface, and wipe with a soft cloth. Rinse with warm water – and done. You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
Abrasive, sand-based, highly acidic and aggressive cleaners and limescale removers are not suitable for removing limescale deposits.
If, for instance, gardening or sports equipment are cleaned in the bath, they can often leave marks as the result of metallic rubbing. However, rust marks from rusty equipment, leftover silicone or paint are also other sources of marks in a bath or washbasin. The best way to remove these marks is with our enamel care stick (order no. Z0007521), which is used like an eraser. First mist the surface with water, then erase – and done. You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
Cosmetics such as nail polish and hair dye will not harm Bette bathroom products in glazed titanium steel because BetteGlaze is resistant to chemicals. Simply use our enamel spray cleaner (order no. B57-0245) and BetteCareCloth (order no. Z0016912) to thoroughly remove any soiling from the glaze after use, then paints and hair dyes can be easily wiped off without leaving any colour residue.
You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
Bette bathroom products made of glazed titanium steel are extremely robust and easy to clean, but highly acidic, aggressive and abrasive cleaning agents, sponges and brushes should not be used because they may contain particles that are harder than glass, and will therefore scratch the surface.
You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
Aggressive cleaning agents such as drain cleaner or abrasive products may damage the BetteGlaze surface. Their use is therefore not recommended. Used regularly, the measures given under "What is the easiest and best way for me to clean Bette glazed titanium steel to remove everyday dirt?" will ensure that you can enjoy a clean freshness and the optimum hygiene even without resorting to aggressive cleaning products.
Please observe the following information in order to ensure that the water- and dirt-repellent characteristic of BetteGlaze Plus is preserved for a long time. Please dry the surface of your Bette product with a soft cloth after use. For additional care, please rinse the surface with warm water and clean/dry it with soft cloths. We recommend the BetteCareCloth (order no. Z0016912) for daily cleaning and care.
For heavier dirt, please use our enamel spray cleaner (order no. B57-0245), any standard commercially available washing-up detergent, mild bathroom cleaner or non-abrasive household cleaner. In every instance, please follow the instructions for use on enamelled surfaces that are printed on the various products.
You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
Please do not use the following to clean the surface finish BetteGlaze Plus: Microfibre cloths, steel wool, abrasive cleaning agents, strong alkaline or acidic cleaning products and detergents, washing-machine detergents, care pens or Bette enamel cleaner.
Wipe the surface after every use with a soft, non-scratch cloth or sponge and clean, warm water. A brush with soft plastic or natural bristles can be used for stubborn stains.
To clean it, you can use our Bette enamel cleaner (order no. Z0015908), enamel spray cleaner (order no. B57-0245) or a mild bathroom or all-purpose cleaner. In every instance, please follow the instructions for use on enamelled surfaces that are printed on the various products.
You can easily order our care products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/. .
Aggressive cleaning products such as drain cleaners or scouring agents could damage the enamel and anti-slip surface and impair the anti-slip effect. If you use the measures described above regularly, you will be able to maintain a clean freshness and the optimum hygiene even without resorting to aggressive cleaning products.

These small brown spots or stains are usually caused by dirt from the mains supply. They are usually due to particles containing iron oxide that rust when combined with oxygen and water, and then are able to settle on the surface thanks to limescale – resulting in the phenomenon you describe. The only thing that helps here is to thoroughly remove the limescale deposits on the surface using, for example, our enamel care stick (order no. Z0007521) and Bette enamel cleaner (order no. Z0015908) so that the surface is perfectly smooth again. Please contact a specialist bathroom company to prevent these deposits in the mains supply.

During construction, it is possible that the bath may be contaminated by cement, paint or the remains of water that has been left for a while, and layers of dust. The glazed surface may then feel blunt or look dull. The best way to remove this dirt or these marks is to follow the standard cleaning process (see "What is the easiest and best way for me to clean Bette glazed titanium steel to remove everyday dirt?"). If this is not enough, you can obtain special cleaning and care products from specialist retailers and our service shop.

Maintenance
BetteGlaze is innately impact-proof. Like glass fibre, it remains flexible and resistant to the typical use that occurs in the bathroom. In extremely rare cases, it is possible that small areas of the glazed surface may break away, perhaps if something heavy falls onto the washbasin, bath or shower surfaces. Bette offers an enamel lacquer for minor repairs such as these, known as Remalle, which consists of a self-hardening plastic mixture in various bath colours. The lacquer is applied to the damaged area in several thin layers until it has been completely filled in. The repair paste should then be allowed to dry and cure thoroughly. You can easily order our Remalle in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/en/.
Alternatively, we can provide you with the details of companies that specialises in repairs such as these.
We will be pleased to provide you with details of a specialist company that replaces baths or showers without tile damage. If you are looking for a provider to fit a replacement bath, please ensure that the offer really is for a genuine replacement and not for a bath-in-bath exchange, which merely involves a plastic insert being glued to the inside of your old bath.
You can find spare parts for many products in our service shop at https://shop.my-bette.com/ or at a sanitary specialist company you trust. Spare parts are often already in stock there or can be ordered quickly. You can find out which specialised companies are located near you via our dealer search: https://www.my-bette.com/service/haendlersuche.
Everyone who has ever used a bath will have experienced the problem of mouldy or cracked silicone joints. Under DIN 52460, silicone joints are maintenance joints, and need to be checked regularly for leaks and renewed professionally when necessary, which results in regular work and costs for professional support and materials. Mould can be harmful to your health, and if the permanently elastic joints also start to leak, this can result in significant damage to the building.
As an alternative, Bette offers the option of fitting many of its baths and shower trays with BetteUpstand. These are upended edges on shower surfaces or baths that provide structural protection against moisture damage on the wall side – because instead of porous silicone, the glazed titanium steel here forms a "hollow" against the wall. Other good solutions are high-quality special sealing tapes such as the BetteSealing system, which additionally seal the problem area of the silicone joint both at floor level and against the wall. If it is combined with a bonded seal, the installation instructions are observed and the enclosed materials are used, the BetteSealing system meets the requirements of the new sealing standard DIN 18534-1, which calls for 100% water tightness in floor level shower surfaces even with high water exposure.
