What are undermounted washbasins?
Undermounted washbasins are modern washbasins that can be integrated under the washbasin worktop. In contrast to countertop or built-in washbasins, the basin is installed from below so that the surface of the washbasin worktop remains undisturbed. This type of installation ensures a minimalist and elegant design.
Your advantages of undermounted washbasins
Undermounted washbasins offer numerous advantages that make them a popular choice in modern bathrooms. One of the biggest plus points is the minimalist look: as the basin is mounted under the vanity top, the result is a seamless design with no visible edges. This makes rooms look tidier and more elegant. Under-mounted washbasins are particularly effective in modern or purist bathrooms.
Another advantage is that they are easy to clean. As there are no protruding edges, dirt and water can be easily wiped off the smooth washbasin surface.
Under-mounted washbasins are ideal for bathrooms where a clean, linear look is desired. They are perfect for large vanity tops or double washbasins, as they make optimum use of the available space and harmonise the overall look. They also offer advantages in small bathrooms, as they visually take up less space and make the room appear larger.
A variety of shapes and colours: Undermounted washbasins for every style
Our vanity washbasins are available in a variety of shapes and colours, allowing you to create your own individual bathroom design.
Whether round, oval or rectangular - the shape of the washbasin can be chosen to match the style of the room.
There are also numerous colour options, from classic white and grey tones to modern black, blue or earth tones.
What should be taken into account during installation?
- Suitable material for the vanity top: As the washbasin is mounted to the vanity top from below, it must be made of a robust, water-resistant material. Natural stone, quartz or special water-resistant wooden worktops are particularly suitable.
- Exact cut-out size: The cut-out in the vanity top must be accurate to the millimetre to ensure a perfect fit. A cut-out that is too large or irregular can compromise stability and appearance.
- Professional fastening: Undermounted
- Stability and load-bearing capacity: Particularly with larger washbasins or heavy materials, it is important to ensure that the mounting has sufficient load-bearing capacity. The load should be evenly distributed to ensure long-term stability.
- Precise alignment: An exact fit and flush alignment are crucial for a harmonious overall appearance. The position should be checked and adjusted several times before the silicone hardens.
- Connecting water and drainage pipes: As with any washbasin installation, the water and drainage pipes must be installed professionally. Good accessibility of the connections facilitates subsequent maintenance work.
